NEBVOICES – NEB Voices for Europe’s Future

NEBVOICES – NEB Voices for Europe’s Future is a European cooperation project co-funded by the European Union through the CERV – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (Project ID: 101254120).

Led by EMEDEA – Association for Sustainable Development and Entrepreneurship from Croatia, the project brings together a consortium of four small towns/municipalities  from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and Portugal with the shared goal of strengthening democratic participation through the values of the New European Bauhaus.

Connecting Local Communities Through New European Bauhaus Values

The project explores how sustainability, inclusion, and beauty can become part of everyday local life and public development in smaller European communities. Through a series of international Civic Exchange Events, public conferences, participatory workshops, Walking Cafés, citizen dialogues, and local exchange activities, NEBVOICES creates spaces where municipalities, civil society organisations, and citizens can learn from each other and jointly reflect on the future of their communities.

Citizens, Public Spaces and the Future of Europe

The project is implemented through five interconnected work packages and international exchange events hosted in:

  • Vodice (Croatia)
  • Gradara (Italy)
  • Ormož (Slovenia)
  • Brussels (Belgium)
  • Mangualde (Portugal)

Each event focuses on a different aspect of participatory democracy, local cooperation, citizen engagement, and the practical application of New European Bauhaus principles in local environments.

NEBVOICES – Building Sustainable and Inclusive European Communities

NEBVOICES particularly emphasises:

  • cooperation between local authorities and civil society,
  • inclusion of vulnerable and underrepresented groups,
  • participatory approaches to local development,
  • sustainable and community-oriented public spaces,
  • and strengthening citizens’ voices within European democratic processes.

Bringing New European Bauhaus Principles to Local Communities

By connecting local experiences with European dialogue, the project aims to encourage smaller towns and municipalities to become active contributors to a more sustainable, inclusive, and democratic future of Europe.

NEBVOICES Events

The NEBVOICES project is structured as a gradual international learning and exchange journey where each event builds upon the previous one. Starting in Vodice with the introduction of New European Bauhaus values and the creation of dialogue between citizens, municipalities, and civil society, the project continues through participatory co-creation in Gradara, citizen-led local action in Ormož, and the connection of local voices with European institutions in Brussels. The process concludes in Mangualde, where partners reflect on shared experiences, evaluate the project’s impact, and develop long-term recommendations for future participatory and community-based initiatives across Europe.
